Dusty Blooms....

Hello lovelies and Happy Monday!

Did you know Dusty Attic now has blooms?!!!!

Well, not only do they have blooms now, but they are just amazingly well crafted.  I had the pleasure of playing with some over the weekend....

{U2}

I started off with just the Dusty in Bloom Bridal Veil and Celestial White and started misting to match my colours.  They were so easy to colour.

Then of course, there is the fantastic Dusty Attic Chippy too!

I used:
mini Vintage Chandelier DA 0625
Keys & Locks DA 0680
mini Keys & Locks DA 0679
Sweet Hearts DA 0684

Here is a little tute on my chippy technique that I applied to all pieces:

  1. Gather supplies. I used Gesso, TA Glimmermist in ‘crushed shells’, Martha Stewart Metallic Gold acrylic paint and TA Glimmerglam in ‘tide pool’.
  2. Apply gesso liberally in a stippling fasion with a large brush, giving the piece lots of texture for the other media to ‘adhere’ to.
  3. Spritz with glimmermist while still wet. Dry with heat gun and repeat. This will give the piece lots of waterstained character.
  4. Apply some gold paint and Glilmmerglam to your craft mat, dip your fingers into it and randomly dab the piece with your fingers, but only partially covering it. Dry with heat gun.

I love this random effect. The chippy has lots of shine and glimmer, but the random application provides a little more texture and interest also.

I also used some fantastic canvas from Canvas Corp, which also colours beautifully with mist.... I had a play with some gel medium, mists and an old hair comb (heaps of fun and will definitely be trying that again!!) .... and also added some beautiful buttons and ribbon from the lovely Nicole at Craft Queen!

That's all for now.  Hope all your kiddies are happily back to school.  Despite having a fantastic Easter break and spending time away with friends, mine were so happy to be going back today..... little weirdos!! :))

Oh, and just because I can't help it..... have a look at my little man!  (yep, that's him being pushed over!! : / )First season of Rugby League this year and he scored two tries on the weekend.  His team beat the visiting team 18/14.  Considering the full contact nature of this code I think I did okay from the sidelines... my hands were covering my eyes less than half the game I think.  I'm getting better!

Have a fantastic week.  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again soon.

Cheers,

Jules

Girly Girly....

Friday is Colour Room day and this week presents a very girly palette!  Lemon, pink and blue isn't something I would normally put together on a page, but I did really enjoy this layout.  I also used Lydel's sketch for inspo as well.... and why wouldn't I?  Circles galore!!  :)

{dream}

Not forgetting of course that Manor House Creations are Colour Room Sponsors this month and we have had the opportunity to play with some gorgeous blooms!  This one is no exception.....

I have also layered some Dusty Attic chippy pieces in similar colours.  I have used a nameplate and mini key and lock from the new release and simply coated them all in acrylic antique white paint and inked very slightly with 'antique linen' Distress Ink.  Incorporating buttons, canvas, a quote, some twine and butterfly, the result is lots of interest without being overpowering.

Name Plates #5
Code: DA0609
Mini Keys & Locks
Code: DA0679

And the palette and sketch:

Pop on over to the Colour Room and check out the DT samples for yourself.  They are typically amazing!

Thanks for popping in for a visit.  I'll be seeing you again soon!

Cheers,

Back and Refreshed! ....

Hello lovely friends!

I hope you all had a lovely break over Easter.  We had a fantastic time with friends down in Yeppoon and spent many hours catching up, soaking up the sun and the scenery... and just generally wearing ourselves out!  Totally, unbelieveably fantastic time.  My workout gear just came along for the drive unfortunately, but we were just too busy having fun to worry about what we 'should' be doing!  :)

Here is a little summary....

boating, island hopping, skiing, snorkelling and just generally soaking up the amazing Easter weather....

eating chocolate of course....

enjoying a bit of action at the track....

and fabulous food, wine, company and location....

It just doesn't get any better than that!

Getting back into the swing of things this week, so I'll be back real soon.

Cheers for now,

Jules

Bloomin' Gorgeous.....

It's all about the blooms this month over at The Colour Room.  The stunning Manor House Creations are sponsoring us with their amazing florals and I just couldn't resist the play on words with my title.....

{bloomin' gorgeous}

Pop on over and check out the palette and full range of DT inspiration.... they never cease to amaze and thrill me.

This is a real mix of product.  I don't think there are many brands I missed on this one actually!  :)

The Dusty Attic Decorative Frame #2...

... I have simply 'gessoed' and ligthly kissed with an ink pad to give it that not-quite-inked look.

Other products include MME Follow Your Heart 'be amazing' pp and twine, MME Lost & Found 'breeze' pp, Prima pp (the fussy cut flowers), Hambly transparency, Prima birdcage and lamp, BG chipboard Alphas, TA Glimmermist, Prima brick stamp, a handful of buttons and a paper doily.

This is a scheduled post so, in all likelihood, I am presently island hopping with friends on their glorious boat off the coast of Yeppoon!!  Oh life is good....  :)   We are also squeezing in a little camping too on the way home and investigating some little spots we have been meaning to check out for some time.

Happy Easter to one and all and I hope you are spending some precious time with your precious people.

Thanks for popping in for a visit and I'll see you all soon.

Cheers,

Jules
